3D artist extraordinaire and fellow HârnGamer Bill Durfy (aka Robold) has asked me to post a couple of samples of his fine art on this site, as he has no site of his own. Click on the images below to see the full-size versions:

Tomb

Tower

Robold tells me the two images are Hârn-related, but I have to say I have absolutely no idea where they are supposed to be set. Anybody out there have any suggestions?

I picked up a CD burner this week - an awesome TDK veloCD 16/10/40 ReWriter. Backing up data has become a lot easier now! :-)

Raven's RockI'm very pleased to see that fellow HârnGamer Thorvald Neumann (aka Hrafn) has d20-free site!finally taken his site beyond its verdant beta stage. There is still plenty of room for development, but Hrafnsbjarg is coming along very nicely. Check it out, unless of course you're one of those heretical d20 Hârniacs! :-)

Oh, you might want to visit the site using Opera 5.11 (the leanest, meanest browsing machine on the Net! A pity they want you to pay for it) - I had a couple of problems viewing it with that clunky bloatware, Internet Explorer 5.5, to the point that it crashed completely at one stage.

My humble apologies for the lack of an update on this page - having a 6-week old baby in the house can take up a lot of one's time! :-)

HârnMaster Character GeneratorVeteran HârnMaster guru Cédric Poncet-Montange has announced the development of his HârnMaster Character Generator (HMCG).

You can either generate a character online, or download the software to use it whenever you want. It's very nicely presented, has an easy-to-use interface, and makes excellent use of imagery (it even has portraits!).

I generated a character completely at random and got Grot of Pyvran, a 5'1", 124-lbs, Halea-worshipping energetic but very weak farmer who suffers from severe gambling mania! Hilarious. :-D

Do you ever get irritated by those unwanted popup windows that appear on a lot of websites, such as the GeoCities members' sites? You're a newbie if you don't, but if you do, I found this little freeware gem that nukes them without fail, and the best part is it's easily configurable. Check out PopUp Killer from http://software.xfx.net/mainindex.htm. Clever.

Don't you love the Internet... If it's not one problem it's another. :-( My ISP, Telstra Bigpond Broadband, has slapped all BigPond ADSL residential customers (like me) in the face by changing the terms and conditions for their product, rather ironically called "Freedom". Instead of an unlimited data transfer as they had promised all along, they are now capping our download and upload "freedom" to just 3Gb per month (actually, only 3000Mb), which for ADSL is nothing. Telstra is blaming this on their claim that 5% of broadband users are hogging 35% of total bandwidth. So everyone gets punished, as if we aren't already getting punished by Telstra's very average service and capped bandwidth. >:-(

There's even an online petition floating about, although I don't suppose Telstra would care:

What they would care about is their share price, however, which at last count was seen plummeting. Doesn't make me any happier, though, since I'm a shareholder! D'oh!

I've been advised by my domain host that the problem with their email server has been rectified, so you can send any email to the usual address from now on. Thanks for your patience! :-)

One thing that I am miffed about is that I didn't get the message until now about two terrific updates on HÂRN LINK! Both are updates to excellent sites, and both have had some serious facelifts with the magical artwork of Richard Luschek!

Foundation Day (Western Australia)

It appears that the email server of my service provider is not functioning properly, the consequence of which is that I haven't been receiving any email since yesterday morning. If I had known that there would be so many problems with my domain host (Doteasy.com), I don't think I would have joined. Anyway, I hope it gets rectified soon. :-(

In the meantime, any email addressed to me can be sent to my hotmail address as a backup. I'll keep you posted.

For the past few months, I've been on an uncomfortably tight budget as far as precious hard disk space has been concerned - the ageing 6Gb and 4Gb Quantum Fireballs sitting in my machine have been nearly at full capacity, but that's only because I've been constantly deleting files or uninstalling programs before installing new ones. But now I'm relieved to have wide open spaces once again, with the addition of a whisper-quiet IBM Deskstar 60GXP 40Gb drive. Ahh, bliss...

Regular visitor to WarFlail's Armoury, Martin Randle, has flagged the following site as worthy of reading:

This site contains a "far future, science-fantasy setting for the d20 system", created by Kenneth S. Hood. It's a very nicely put-together system, and the site design looks very good (hmm, the colour scheme looks familiar... where have I seen it before...? <g>).

Seeing as HârnWorld will have a d20 system operating in parallel with the original HârnMaster RPG, there's no reason why something like The Sleeping Imperium couldn't tie in with Hârn in a megagaming sense.
