New Year's Eve. Wow, 1999 seems to have just flown on by. It has definitely been a year of great change for me. Lowest point in the year: my father dying from cancer. Highest point in the year: buying a house! Perhaps two of the most stressful things in one's life...

Well, Scully and I are now off to the Hopman Cup New Year's Eve Ball to celebrate the coming of Y2K. Last year's ball was terrific so tonight should be even more fun. Assuming the ridiculously over-hyped Millennium Bug doesn't crash all the computers in the world, I wish everyone a safe and joyful New Year's celebration.

Have a good one! :-) Send someone a Christmas E-card from Blue Mountain Arts - why not, it's free!

As it has been a while since I last verified all the links on my Hârn-Related Links page, I went through and checked each of them. A couple of Hârn sites had sneakily changed addresses (no big deal to track them down...) but I was alarmed to find so many broken links to dead sites. Come on, people, you call yourselves Hârn fans and then let your sites die? You're letting the team down!

HârnMaster House Rules update: As my pet project, GunMaster Gold, approaches completion, I have posted an updated version of the Firearm Data Table. Also, for some reason the monsters listed in the House Rules section have been popular with visiting Hârniacs and a couple of people have asked if I had written up any more. Yes, as a matter of fact, I had, but only on paper, so by special request, I have compiled them into a text file. If you are interested, take a look at More Monsters.

My mate Spectre, on the other side of the world in San Francisco (okay, Palo Alto if you need to be pedantic) sent me this little gem about What Not To Do on New Year's. Good for a chuckle.

There was a big concert for the INTERFET troops in Dili, East Timor today, called Tour of Duty. The concert was televised live to Australia - looks like everyone had a lot of fun. An excellent morale booster.

Scully and I went into Christmas shopping overdrive today (for ourselves!). She traded in her amcient car for a considerably newer (though still second hand) vehicle: a 1995 Toyota Corolla Conquest, which is a 1.8L sedan. Talk about impulse buying! Hell, why not, we only have a huge mortgage over our heads, plus some expensive furniture to pay off, so what difference will the addition of a car loan make, right? Maybe we'll get lucky and the Y2K bug will wipe out everyone's computers and our debts will be cleared. :-)

I can hold my own when it comes to spending, though: on impulse I purchased a very suave YSL suit (not cheap!) with accompanying shirt and tie for our upcoming New Year's Eve party.

I was pleasantly surprised when I came home today to find The Orcs of Hârn sitting at my door! I had completely forgotten about them. There are only two gargun of each of the five subspecies in this set, which means one would need to have quite a lot of imagination to picture a horde of gargu-hyeka swarming towards the PCs! :-)

I have returned! I went on a complete round-the-world business trip this time, going from Perth to Sydney to Los Angeles to Philadelphia to New York to London to Brussels to Antwerp, back to Brussels, then London to Singapore and finally back to Perth again. Absolutely exhausting but good fun all the way. I found Belgian beer particularly easy to like, especially Duvel! :-)

New York was a blast, especially since Kuma met up with me over there! While I was in Manhattan at the beginning of this month, Quake III Arena was released so I was one of the lucky few to obtain a limited edition copy of Q3A in a metal box! Awesome! I still haven't taken the wrapper off it and am debating whether I should, or just keep it enshrined for posterity...
