I realise that half the month has passed without any updates to this page. I just want to let you know that for the past couple of weeks I have been really busy in the Real World™ and therefore haven't had the opportunity to post much here. I will also be going away on business later this week so there won't be a lot of updates before the end of this month. :-(

Wow - a whole half-year has passed already! Well, I hope that the second half of 1999 is a lot happier for me than the first...

The biggest outrage going on right now seems to be the public hysteria over Yahoo!-GeoCities' unlawful and unenforceable claim that they have a license to the content of all member sites. According to Yahoo, they even claim the right to alter the contents of those member sites without consent from the members. The source of this outrage seems to be this particular line, which was taken from http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ under Section 8 "Content Submitted to Yahoo":

By submitting Content to any Yahoo property, you automatically grant, or warrant that the owner of such Content has expressly granted, Yahoo the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and fully sublicensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display such Content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.

Looks like there's trouble brewing on the Net...
